The successful candidate will be a creative and dedicated pedagogue and scholar who will collaborate with the Musicology Area Coordinator and other music faculty, contributing to the School of Music’s mission of excellence in performance, scholarship, education, and community engagement.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTeachingTeach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in musicology according to the needs of the School of Music, including courses in the core Western music history sequence, as well as:History of Rock and RollExplorations in Music HistoryIntroduction to Research in MusicMusicology Seminar (in an area of the scholar’s expertise)Collegium musicumAdditional courses as neededDeliver instruction in various formats, including campus and online environments when needed.Develop course materials such as syllabi, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental expectations.Maintain high standards of teaching effectiveness and student engagement.Maintain scheduled Student Success hours in accordance with university policies.ServiceSupport student retention in collaboration with the Musicology Coordinator and other faculty.Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and other service activities.Professional GrowthMaintain currency in the field of MusicologyEngage in professional development opportunities in the musicology field and/or on campusOther Duties The above represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.
