Current Employees: If you are currently employed at any of the Universities of Wisconsin, log in to Workday to apply through the internal application process.Position Title:Intern - CounselingJob Category:Employees in TrainingEmployment Type:Terminal (Fixed Term)Job Profile:Intern (Non-Physician) NEJob Duties:Position SummaryThe Counseling Intern position is designed for individuals enrolled in a post-graduate, pre-licensure internship program (LPC-IT) and working toward full licensure as a professional counselor in the state of Wisconsin. Under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals, the intern will engage in structured training and gain practical experience essential to meeting state licensure requirements.Primary ResponsibilitiesParticipate in postgraduate/pre-licensure (LPC-IT) training and supervision provided by licensed counseling staff.Provide individual counseling services to students experiencing developmental, personal, academic, and mental health concerns.Facilitate counseling and psychoeducational groups.Assess student needs and connect students with appropriate campus and community resources.Provide consultation, information, and referral services to faculty and staff.Develop and deliver presentations, outreach programs, and student success initiatives that promote mental health and well-being.Serve on multidisciplinary campus committees and collaborate with campus partners.Support peer-to-peer counseling program operations under the guidance of licensed counseling staff.Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards.Key Job Responsibilities:Department: Clinical ServicesPay Rate: $22.00 per hourRequired Qualifications: Master's degree in counseling from an accredited institution.Actively pursuing professional licensure (LPC-IT or equivalent status).Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to organize, facilitate, and lead groups effectively.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a college or university counseling center and/or with young adult populations.Experience or specialized training in areas relevant to college mental health, including mood disorders, substance use concerns, trauma, eating disorders, and related clinical issues.Ability to effectively serve individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, gender identity, and sexual orientation backgrounds.Experience supporting high-risk or high-acuity clients.Proficiency in brief, solution-focused counseling approaches.Experience providing crisis intervention and managing urgent mental health situations.Flexibility and adaptability in responding to evolving student needs.Strong teamwork and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary care environment.Experience using electronic health or mental health record systems.How to Apply:Applicants are required to apply online at Career Opportunities.
