For UNR Med professional job postings, please contact the Office of Professional Recruitment at (775) 784-6778.  Job DescriptionThe University of Nevada, Reno’s Center for Student Engagement is recruiting for a student worker to work as the ASUN Senate Committee Secretary.Cognitive ComplexityStudent Employees will be able to:Think critically and creatively.Use information to make informed choicesPractice reflective thinkingInterpersonal DevelopmentStudent Employees will be able to:Communicate effectively, both orally and in writingEnhance interpersonal skills as they work as a team with co-workersEnhance customer service skills through service to othersHuman and Civic EngagementStudent Employees will be able to identify and act on their civic responsibilities:Practical competenceUse technology to assist with their duties and responsibilities in the workplaceDemonstrate understanding of standards and expectations in the workplaceOrganize priorities around time management in the workplaceResponsibilitiesThe duties of the Committee Secretary shall include but are not limited to the following:Attend and transcribe the minutes of the Committee meetingsAssist the Secretary of the Senate in tracking the attendance of Senators during Committee meetingsEnsure the committee meetings abide by the standing rules of orderAbide by Nevada Open Meeting Law with respect to NRS 241.035 and provide printed versions of the agenda for the publicPreside during Senate meetings if instructed to do so by the Secretary of the SenateProvide the Secretary with copies of drafts and approved minutesAssist in assembling a book of minutes for the body, which shall contain the original records listed below for each meeting in the following order: The agenda, shall record each meeting for the public and work jointly with the Secretary of Senate of the Associated Students to appropriately file each recordingRequired QualificationsCandidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno in a degree-seeking programCandidate must maintain good academic standing (at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale)Candidate must be continuously enrolled in at least 30 academic credits throughout the duration of the employmentCandidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel or willing to learnStudents must be able to listen to recordings of meetings and type our minutes from the meeting in a fast pace natureScheduleExpected hours to work per week: 10-15Compensation GradeStudent Employee Level 1$13.00/hrCenter for Student Engagement Student Employee Learning OutcomesThrough employment within the ASUN Center for Student Engagement, students will be better prepared to: Knowledge acquisition, integration, construction, and application: Student employees will be exposed to various methods of researching and accessing information. Student Employees will gain knowledge of the organization and university mission.Center for Student Engagement Student Employee Mission:The vision for the student employment program in the ASUN Student Engagement Center is to convert a traditional work environment into learning-outcomes based culture. When successful implementation is achieved, student employees will learn skills beyond the practical aspects of their jobs (learning outcomes) that compare to the skills employers are looking for after graduation. Learning outcomes for employment will also support the academic mission of the University.
