The Norfolk Regional Center (NRC) is seeking a compassionate, motivated Team Leader to join our team and help guide patient care, staff development, and unit operations.About Norfolk Regional CenterThe Norfolk Regional Center (NRC) was created by an act of the Nebraska Legislature in 1885. NRC currently serves two distinct populations of adult males who are committed by a Mental Health Board for inpatient psychiatric treatment. In 2006, NRC began providing treatment to individuals who have sexually offended. The Nebraska Sex Offender (SO) Treatment Program improves public safety by reducing the risk of re-offense, while also improving the quality of patients' lives. In 2018, NRC opened the Medical Support Program and began providing high quality nursing and medical treatment for men with significant physical conditions and a variety of psychiatric, cognitive, and aging issues. This role provides direct leadership to Mental Health Specialists. Experience leading, coordinating, directing, monitoring and/or supervising others. Must be at least 19 years of age to work with adult client populations; at least 21 years of age to work with adolescent client populations.Preferred QualificationsAt least two years of combined education/training/experience in behavioral health, nursing homes, corrections, law enforcement, or criminal justiceLeadership experience in a healthcare or human services environmentOther:Must possess a valid driver’s licenseMust pass a physical examination required by the agencyMay be required to obtain and maintain Medication Aide certification (non-assisted-living setting)Positions may involve working with dangerous or mentally ill patientsSubject to call-back during emergencies or severe weatherMust comply with all safety, security, and operational standardsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of:Supervisory principles and leadership techniquesSecurity procedures related to care of criminal or high-risk psychiatric patientsMethods for supporting physically and/or mentally ill individualsHuman behavior and performanceInstructional methods for individuals and groupsSkill in:Active listening and effective communicationTeaching and coaching staffResponding calmly and decisively in crisis situationsAbility to:Manage and develop staffPlan, assign, and evaluate workloadsInterpret and apply state and federal regulationsWork collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staffPrepare accurate reports and documentationFollow established security measures to protect patients, staff, and the publicMake quick, sound decisions in patient care and safety situationsLift, push, pull, or bend to assist patients safely If you're currently employed by the State of Nebraska, please don't apply through this external career site.
