Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following: Be a part of the Bodyshop Maintenance Team Writing, modifying, and troubleshooting PLC programs (using languages like Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or Function Block) to ensure that industrial automation systems are functioning as expected. They diagnose and fix issues in the PLC systems when malfunctions or inefficiencies arise. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and automation specialists to integrate PLCs with other control systems, such as Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and robotics, to create seamless and synchronized manufacturing workflows. Configure PLC hardware components, including input/output modules, communication interfaces, and networking protocols, to meet the requirements of specific manufacturing applications. Ensure compatibility and interoperability with existing equipment and systems. Identify and resolve issues with PLCs, including programming errors, communication failures, hardware malfunctions, and sensor/actuator discrepancies. Utilize diagnostic tools, software utilities, and technical documentation to diagnose problems and implement corrective actions promptly. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as backup and restore procedures, firmware updates, and system backups, to prevent downtime and ensure the long-term reliability of PLCs. Plan and execute hardware/software upgrades and migrations to enhance system performance and functionality. Collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to design or enhance control systems. The role might require working with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between automation and other plant processes. Ensure PLC systems comply with relevant safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Implement safety features, such as emergency stop circuits, interlocks, and fail-safe programming, to protect personnel and equipment from hazards. Location & Travel Expectations: This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. Here's what else you'll bring: 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production / Siemens TIA, with expertise in achieving stable production processes and in-depth knowledge of production equipment and operations. Bachelor's or Master's degree, or similar in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. An equivalent amount of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Knowledge about VASS 6 preferred Be capable to set up a new Siemens System, Bus topology, interfaces to external devices like Robot, Drive Systems, Scada System, … Be capable to work with the TIA Safety tool. Strong knowledge about Cycle time optimizations Be capable to write an entire PLC program about a new Production cell. Be able to investigate root cause and correct complex error situations. Be able to optimize the Scout Standard programming. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication and presentation skills.
