Job DescriptionThe Flawless Launch Execution Lead Manufacturing Engineer leads a team of engineers responsible for the successful execution of manufacturing engineering projects from early process development through final production launch at the assembly plant. This role oversees project planning, equipment and tooling implementation, installation, and startup while ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to GM’s quality and safety standards.The individual in this role works closely with cross-functional partners including operations, quality, supply chain, product engineering, and strategic suppliers to deliver flawless launches and drive the future of our manufacturing processes. This position requires strong independent judgment, leadership, and communication, and serves as the lead General Assembly Manufacturing Engineer onsite during installation and startup activities.What You’ll DoLead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers through process development, build, implementation, installation, and startup at plant facilitiesDevelop and manage project plans, investment requirements, timelines, and budgetsMonitor project progress, identify and remove roadblocks, and mitigate execution risksEnsure compliance with engineering standards, bill of process, bill of equipment, safety requirements, and applicable regulatory standardsDevelop statements of requirements for tooling and equipmentPartner with cross-functional teams to support smooth project execution and successful production launchesProvide technical direction to and oversight of strategic suppliersDrive continuous improvement initiatives across Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, and supplier partnersManage project budgets and forecasts while identifying and driving cost reduction opportunitiesStay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing engineeringRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering roleProven success delivering projects in a manufacturing environment, including equipment installation and constructionStrong knowledge of project management methodologies and continuous improvement practicesExperience with processing equipment, throughput, and manufacturing process executionKnowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologiesUnderstanding of safety regulations and safe work practices in a manufacturing environmentBachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experiencePreferred QualificationsPrevious supervisory or people leadership experienceExperience in a high-volume manufacturing environmentExperience with equipment reliability, maintainability, standalone availability, and throughput improvementExperience launching new products in a manufacturing settingKnowledge of manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment, the Global Launch Process, and the Global Vehicle Development ProcessFamiliarity with robotics and automation technologiesExperience with data analysis and statistical process control (SPC)Master’s degree in Engineering GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
