Location: Lyerly Neurosurgery – Baptist Health, Jacksonville, FloridaDuration: 1-2 years (based on experience and training)Fellowship Type: OFF THE MATCH Non-ACGME/CAST Certified (guided by ACGME Competencies) Fellowship OverviewThis 12-24-month fellowship in Neurointerventional Surgery provides specialized training in cerebrovascular (CV) surgery, integrating both microsurgical and endovascular techniques. The program is designed to develop clinically skilled, research-oriented neurovascular surgeons who will become leaders in the field.Fellows will gain extensive experience in cerebral angiography, advanced neurovascular interventions, and cerebrovascular microsurgery. Baptist Health has performed over 1,400 Endovascular procedures and over 800 cranial cases, offering extensive hands-on experience to our trainees.The curriculum includes:Hands-on surgical and endovascular proceduresICU rounds and neurovascular patient managementResearch and academic developmentPediatric cerebrovascular training Training Structure First-Year Fellow (Junior Fellow)Focuses on ICU rounds, clinical service, and basic endovascular skillsIntensive simulator-based trainingAssists senior fellows and faculty in basic and advanced proceduresDirect supervision and quarterly evaluations Second-Year Fellow (Senior Fellow)Serves as Chief Fellow with administrative responsibilitiesOversees operative scheduling, on-call coverage, and team managementPrimary surgeon in complex surgical and interventional cases (under supervision)Special focus on pediatric cerebrovascular surgeryAdvanced training in:Aneurysms, AVMs, AVFs, carotid diseaseAcute stroke management, cerebral revascularizationPediatric neurovascular pathologies Call ResponsibilitiesFellows are assigned to faculty services and rotate through attending teamsMonthly 24-hour call schedule arranged among fellowsFellows may opt to cover general neurosurgery if board-eligible/certifiedRequired to participate in Monday, Thursday and Friday Conferences and clinic hours when not in OR/IR Eligibility CriteriaEducation: Neurosurgery, Neurology, or Radiology backgroundBoard Eligibility/Certification: Preferred but not mandatory (international fellows accepted)Licensure: Florida Limited License (International Fellows) or Full License (US Graduates)Skills/Experience: Strong background in neurosurgery, neurology, or radiology Primary Location:Downtown - 841 Building
