It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of WorkThis is a supervisory, administrative and para-engineering to full engineering work in the management of routine construction, maintenance, repair operations for a moderate to large number and variety of buildings and structures. This position directs, supervise, plan and evaluates the work of subordinates. Work includes making the final technical decision in a wide variety of trades, administering the work order system, directing the preventive maintenance program, requisitioning and purchasing material and supplies. Positions are responsible for inspecting the facility regularly for maintenance needs and safety hazards, and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $70,627.00 - $137,724.00Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:Considerable thorough knowledge of repair, maintenance and construction techniques and of the tools, methods, practices, materials and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades. Working knowledge of building codes, environmental rules and all other rules and regulations governing repair, maintenance and construction of facilities.Ability to perform journey level work in a variety of trades, to read schematics and blueprints, to sketch or draft technical drawings, and to estimate repair and construction projects.Ability to train, direct and supervise subordinates and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.This Position Is Exempt and Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)This Position Is Designated as Mandatory and Must Report or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.About the Facility: Cherry Hospital is a State-of-the-Art Psychiatric hospital located in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
