Job DescriptionPosition Summary:The Assistant Professor is expected to teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses, advise students, and provide service to the university in the CSU / Adams State University Mechanical Engineering Program (resident in Alamosa, Colorado). The role will demonstrate a commitment to CSU’s mission through teaching and service.Full Consideration Date: 15 July 2026Link to CSU Mechanical Engineering website: https://www.engr.colostate.edu/me/Particular Courses:MECH 305: Computational MethodsMECH 207/307: Mechatronics I/IIMECH 339/439: Thermodynamics I/IIMECH 342: Fluid MechanicsMECH 344: Heat and Mass TransferWorking Title:The individual selected will be assigned one of six working titles based on education and experience. Specifically, a selected individual who has an MS will have a working title of Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Master Instructor; a selected individual who has a PhD will have a working title of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Within these two working titles, selected individuals who have > 5 years of experience will have a working title of Senior Instructor or Associate Professor; selected persons who have > 10 years of experience will have a working title of Master Instructor or [Full] Professor.Essential Job Duties: Teach three 3-credit undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses per semester.Communicate with and grade students in a timely, equitable, and professional manner.Provide service to the department, university, profession, and community in support of CSU’s mission.Regularly assess courses and incorporate appropriate improvements.Abide by all University faculty requirements and responsibilities.Conditions of Employment:Pre-employment background check.Legally authorized to work in the US by the proposed start date.Supervision:Graduate and / or undergraduate teaching assistants.Minimum Qualifications: Completed MS (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the desired start date;Four years of industry engineering experience or four years of experience teaching undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses (or similar); andExcellent management, communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications:Completed PhD (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field by the desired start date;Teaching or work experience in Thermo Fluids, Mechatronics, and Computational Methods;Experience teaching the specific courses listed in the Job Description Summary in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering (or closely related) program; andEvidence of teaching effectiveness.Salary Range$85K - $115K, depending on education and experienceRequired Application DocumentsTo apply, please upload the following applicant documents.
