Job DescriptionPosition Summary:Receives prescription orders from students, clinicians and technicians. Assesses accuracy and issues with orders such as: signatures, dates, case number, quantities, directions, address, weights or other deficiencies. This work unit exists to provide administration anddirection of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and provide a support facility forservice to the general public and referring veterinarians.Why work at Colorado State University?CSU was recently ranked first among Colorado-based educational employersand fifth among all in-state employers in Forbes magazine’s “America’s BestEmployers by State!”Essential Job Duties:Process prescription refill requests and verify prescription informationPrepare inpatient and outpatient prescriptions for dispensation to be checked by the pharmacist.Provide customer service to clients picking up prescriptions.Maintain compliance with state pharmacy regulations and hospital safety standardsProvide customer service to clients on the telephoneCollaborate with veterinarians, pharmacists, students and hospital staffConditions of Employment:Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires)Essential Services Designation: Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety and welfare.Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materialsSpecial Requirements/Other: may require working on occassional holiday or weekendSupervision:No formal supervisory dutiesMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED.Ability to carry 40 lbs of pet food or fluidsPreferred Qualifications:National pharmacy technician certification (e.g., PTCB or equivalent).Prior experience in a veterinary hospital, academic medical center, or teaching hospital pharmacy.Experience with sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, including familiarity with USP standards.Familiarity with controlled substance regulations and audit preparation.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical environmentDemonstrated ability to support students or trainees in a teaching environment.Application Instructions:This position will remain open until filled.
