To control the access of personnel, report security violations, fire, and other safety hazards at the UT Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas.ResponsibilitiesEmergency response:Reporting and responding to emergencies independently or in a team as directedBuilding monitoring:Conducting vehicle and foot patrols, screening visitorsControlling access to restricted areasBuilding assessment checkpoint patrols, Guard tour patrols within scope of SOPsOpening and securing doors, gates, and buildingsMonitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV) equipment intermittentlyOperating vehicle and handheld radiosAbility to complete official and unofficial reportsVisitor management: Managing vehicle and pedestrian traffic through checkpoints, parking areas, and visitor use facilitiesAssisting with VIP/dignitary visits and special eventsProviding professional customer service to employees and visitorsRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED2 years of experience in a similar fieldPreferred QualificationsSome College hours towards a Criminal Justice degreeDegree in Criminal Justice4 years of experienceDriving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
