Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.NPI Team Leader – G3500 PlatformThis position will have primary responsibility for leading NPI / NTI program requirements for G3500 gas engine development.  As an NPI / NTI requirements team leader you will be responsible for leading high performing, cross functional teams using the recommended NPI / NTI processes for each program you support which is both challenging and rewarding.  NPI / NTI program results are measured at each gateway and include successfully completing the deliverables defined by each specific NPI gateway from launch through gateway 7.What you will do:New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Source Introduction (NSI) engineering requirements leadership covering multiple facilities and time zonesVoice of Customer (VOC) engagement with application marketing and service teamsVoice of Regulator (VOR) for both emissions and non-emissions to ensure products meet industry standards and government regulationsNPI program Total cost of Ownership (TCO) review, management and report outAlignment of requirements management process to NPI process for G3500 programs using the CLEAR requirements management tool:Translating market functional requirements (MFR) and voice of regulator (VOR) requirements into NPI targets & thresholdsGaining consensus on program committed values with the technical team and business unitEnsuring CLEAR utilization, confidence evaluation and updates at all DR/GW reviews by the 30+ NPI technical teamsDriving meetings to resolve MFR and CLEAR requirements gaps working directly with LEPS / O&G Marketing and LPSD Technical teamsCLEAR requirements training of engineering teamsReport on VOR, requirements and TCO status at stakeholder updates, design and gateway reviewsHigh level point of contact for Gas LEP budget management working closely with G3500 Platform team for detailed budget managementEducation:  4 year degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or relevant experienceTop Candidates will also have:  Engineering experience related to EnginesA basic understanding of large gas and/or diesel engine operationA strong personal initiativeAbility to work well independently as neededAbility to collaborate well with all process partnersExperience leading cross functional teamsAbility to quickly assemble cross functional teams to address program requirement opportunitiesStrong organizational and time management skillsStrong team coaching skillsStrong communication skillsUnderstanding of Caterpillar engine product configurationLarge gas and/or diesel troubleshooting skillsUnderstanding of Caterpillar engine product development processFamiliarity with emission and non-emission based regulationsFamiliarity with CSA, UL, EU and API standardsProficiency working with computers and computer systems.  Software programs used frequently include, but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Creo, Team CenterSkill DescriptorsPlanning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Effective Communications: Extensive Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Technical Excellence: Extensive Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.Customer/Market Focus: Extensive Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.Managing People: Extensive Knowledge of processes involved in managing people;
