Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us.Job DescriptionThe primary focus of this role is to support Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as the Senior Manager, EHS & Process Safety for the NBR Facility within the Department of Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHSS). The individual in this role will be responsible for supporting the company’s environmental, health, safety, and sustainability (EHSS) efforts within the NBR Facility to drive long-term company and stakeholder value.The position will develop, plan, organize, and execute EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training to maintain a safe, health, and environmental compliant facility. This position plays a key role in aligning corporate and local policies and procedures and will enable and foster a proactive and integrated EHS culture that promotes a positive, proactive approach throughout all operations. Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, safety, medical surveillance and sustainability laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides. Manage PSM elements as defined by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 for the Cogeneration Plant (COGEN)Support key PSM documentation, including PSI, P&IDs, equipment specifications, relief device records, and chemical inventories.Support Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and HAZOP studies, ensuring timely resolution of all action itemsManage the Management of Change (MOC) process, change requests and impact assessments for all modifications to COGEN plant processes, equipment, and proceduresOversee Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) for new and modified equipmentDevelop and implement new EHS programs, policies, and procedures and update and improve existing ones.Provide applicable regulatory and technical practical guidance and execute programs, policies, procedures, and trainings as the subject matter expert for high-risk work programs including but not limited to: working from heights, electrical safety, excavation and trenching, PSM, construction safety, hot work, line breaking, lock out tag out, safe work permits, prestart up safety reviews, process safety management, mechanical integrity, and contractor safety.Investigates causes of industrial accidents and/or injuries to develop solutions to minimize or prevent recurrence as assigned.Participates in EHS operational and tier discussions, EHS committees and teams; and EHS self-assessments, inspections, and audits.Utilize site platforms for investigations, reporting, inspection, and other management system platforms and their outcomes.Participate in and show leadership in an EHS culture at the site that partners with operational teams to ensure all are accountable for EHS culture and performance, modeling what good looks like.Conducts Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) reviews against BMS standards and applicable compliance standards, identifies gaps, and completed actions against gaps identified in a systemic fashion using appropriate quality and EHS system tools for documentation and CAPA tracking purposes. Brings new approaches to continually improve the effectiveness of workflows and processes and learn and apply new concepts.Helps to coach and mentor EHS Team members during day-to-day operations.Qualifications:Minimum RequirementsMinimum education of a Bachelor of Science degree in science or engineering. A graduate degree in a relevant discipline and/or Professional license or certification in an appropriate discipline is desired.Minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of previous experience in a highly regulated operations/manufacturing environment in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) role.Previous experience in chemical, power plant or pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.Experience working on a team within a matrix organizationHighly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and EHS systems like Intelex (or similar).Ability to attend to multiple high priority items simultaneously and think creatively, critically, and strategically to solve problems in a complex environment with both urgency and agility, calmly.If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn’t perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee’s work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience.
