This position performs technical work within a college setting, assists learners in carrying out lab assignments, and performs related work as required.           Responsibilities of the Lab Assistant - Auto include: Assisting learners in mastering technical skills, content, concepts and techniques in the lab setting by providing examples, suggesting alternative methods or techniques of problem solving, developing supporting learning materials, providing additional demonstrations, answering questions. Percent of time: 40%Supporting the program faculty in the demonstration of automotive repair skills and techniques, providing guidance and monitoring of learner performance, providing feedback and helping learners develop appropriate skills and knowledge in the lab setting. Percentage of time: 35%Supporting program faculty in prepping, maintaining, and cleaning lab space to ensure safety and effectiveness of the instructional setting. Tool, equipment, and supply inventory organization. Percentage of time: 25%Salary Range:Depends on Qualifications; current pay range is $21.26 - $29.28 per hour.Minimum QualificationsPost-secondary coursework in automotive service technician or 6 (six) months of automotive technician experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Preferred Qualification Knowledge of current automotive service technology, equipment, and skills.Recent work experience in the automotive service field.Ability to communicate clearly with learners and instructors.Ability to demonstrate skills, track inventory, enforce safety procedure, assign and evaluate learner performance in the lab setting under the direction of the classroom instructor.A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.To facilitate the review, assessment, and evaluation process, please ensure that your application and/or resume clearly demonstrate fulfillment of the minimum and preferred qualifications of the position.
