This role acts as a trusted legal partner to the business, working closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Corporate, and Operations teams to enable compliant, efficient, and customer-focused outcomes. You will support a broad range of commercial, transactional, and operational matters while helping the business anticipate risk, move with confidence, and deliver on its commitments. You have strong commercial judgment and a practical, solution-oriented mindset, enabling you to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice aligned with business priorities. Your background includes demonstrable experience supporting Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Corporate, and Operations teams, with a solid understanding of supply chain operations and related commercial and regulatory considerations. You are highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple complex matters in a fast-paced, international environment.You communicate with clarity and confidence, build trusted relationships, and act with integrity, reflecting Illumina’s commitment to Be Accountable. Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are an advantage but are not required.Key Responsibilities Include:Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of domestic and international commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and partnersProvide timely, high-quality, and pragmatic legal support aligned with business objectives and Legal department goalsAct as lead legal advisor for supply chain–related agreements, including supplier, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, material transfer, confidentiality, and other inbound supply or services contractsAdvise on procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and operational matters from a legal, compliance, and risk perspectiveSupport supply chain–related regulatory requirements, trade compliance obligations, and internal policies across multiple jurisdictionsPartner closely with internal stakeholders to address legal, compliance, and process issues, and contribute to policy development and legal initiativesDirect and manage internal and external counsel on matters relevant to supported functions and regional entitiesSupport corporate governance and ongoing maintenance of corporate entities across the regionDeliver training and practical guidance to business teams to promote legal awareness and risk mitigationMentor and support junior legal team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharingDrive continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, and systems, embracing Innovate with Purpose to improve efficiency and effectivenessINDEURThe estimated base salary range for the Legal Counsel (EMEALA), Cambridge UK role based in United Kingdom is GBP 92,200 - 138,200. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. This salary range applies to the primary posting location listed above. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range will be updated accordingly. Compensation ranges for other locations will differ to reflect local market competitiveness and will be shared with candidates if applicable during the recruitment process. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
