The Mission of the Bike Shop Department is to provide rapid, innovative, and affordable engineering solutions and prototype fabrication that demonstrate new technologies and capabilities, from concept through flight demonstration. We also provide quick-turn innovation, design, fabrication, assembly, and test capabilities in support of existing and future program engineering needs. We are looking for candidates willing to work independently and collaborate with our engineers and fabricators to develop mechanical components and systems in a dynamic, vertically integrated environment.  Projects can range from a quick proof of concept to flight hardware. The Principal Mechanical Engineer needs to be a motivated self-starter that is responsible for the design, documentation, coordination of fabrication, integration, and test of components and systems of varying complexity. The candidate must be experienced in all aspects of the engineering development process up to and including testing/verification. This position will function as part of multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects. This person will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) or Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for development of one or more complex mechanical systems and will be expected to mentor and guide less experienced team members.
