And you can too, so bring your energy to ours.As Operations Technician I, II, or III, you will support pipeline and facility operations by safely operating, inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment. This is a progressive, multi-level role where scope, independence, and technical complexity increase by level. Success in this role requires a strong commitment to safety, compliance, teamwork, and continuous learning.Your work will challenge you, and with our Core Values to guide you, you’ll quickly learn and grow with us.Key Responsibilities (All Levels)Safely operate, inspect, and maintain pipeline and facility equipment in compliance with operational, technical, environmental, and regulatory requirementsMonitor equipment and facilities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operationsFollow all company policies, procedures, and safe work practicesMaintain working knowledge of site-specific equipment, permits, and compliance requirementsComplete assigned reports, logs, and maintain accurate operations and preventive maintenance recordsProtect personnel, communities, the environment, and company assetsCoordinate work activities with contractors as needed, reinforcing safety expectationsPerform damage prevention activities including pipeline locating, marking, and excavation coordinationSupport preventative and remedial maintenance activitiesPerform other duties as assignedProgressive Responsibilities by LevelOperations Technician IPerform routine inspections and maintenance with guidanceUse hand tools and basic diagnostic equipmentDevelop foundational knowledge of process control systems, PLCs, and facility equipmentDemonstrate ability to learn systems, procedures, and site operationsOperations Technician IIRead and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentationAnalyze operating data and collaborate to resolve technical or operational issuesPerform intermediate troubleshooting and maintenance with limited supervisionApply working knowledge of process control systems and PLCsOperations Technician IIIIndependently troubleshoot and resolve complex operational and technical issuesServe as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced techniciansLead or support complex maintenance activities and operational improvementsApply advanced knowledge of process control systems, PLCs, and site-specific equipmentEducation & ExperienceRequired (All Levels):High School Diploma or GEDLevel-Specific Experience (commensurate with level):Operations Technician I:Associate’s degree or two-year technical degree preferredMinimum six (6) months of mechanical, technical, or controls systems experience in oil & gas or a related internship with an Associate’s degreeOperations Technician II:Minimum two (2) years of related experience, including at least one (1) year as a technician in the oil & gas industryAssociate’s degree or two-year technical degree preferredOperations Technician III:Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience as an operations technician or similar roleAssociate’s degree or two-year technical degree plus two (2) or more years of multifaceted oil & gas operations experienceTechnical SkillsProcess Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs):Technician I: BasicTechnician II: Working proficiencyTechnician III: Advanced proficiencyProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general PC skillsComfortable adopting technology and applications to improve operational efficiencyOperate, start, stop, and monitor natural gas compression unitsMaintain compressors, turbines, pumps, valves, instrumentation, and measurement systemsExecute calibrations and inspections on instrumentation, control systems, PLCs, and electrical systems (VAC/VDC)Perform right-of-way activities, including valve maintenance and pipeline locatingPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to work in extreme temperatures, loud environments, and enclosed spacesLift and carry up to 50 lbs.; team lift heavier loads as neededStand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periodsWork at elevated levels using ladders, scaffolding, man lifts, or towers with appropriate PPEUse hand and power tools safelyShift, Schedule & TravelAvailable for after-hours work, on-call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays as requiredWillingness to work overtime and 10–12 hour shiftsTravel between company locations may be required, with occasional overnight staysOther RequirementsValid state driver’s license with a clean driving recordStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsSafety-first mindset demonstrated in daily work#LI-GC1Why Choose Williams?We are committed to providing our employees with competitive compensation and benefits as part of your Total Rewards package to help protect your current and future physical, emotional, and financial health.
