Job DescriptionWork ArrangementThis role requires an employee to be onsite on a full-time basis.The RoleGM's Design Organization is seeking an Assistant Program Manager (APM) who will represent Design in Engineering and Program Teams, ensuring that our vehicles have world class craftsmanship, quality, usability, and an engaged customer experience. There has never been a more exciting time to work for GM!What You’ll Do Directly support Program Manager with cross-functional execution of Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) deliverables with goal of 100% on-time performance with qualityUtilize the GVDP and Design sub-processes to manage and deliver specific Design milestonesRepresent the voice of Design cross-functionally to ensure deliverables and decisions are met per process and drive accountability as the neutral voice of the program internallyFacilitate Program Operations Meetings (POPs) to track and resolve program issues, including documenting decisions and tracking action items to closureAct as Design’s single-point-of-contact for all cross-functional stakeholders for assigned programsMake program status highly visible, anticipate potential program risks, and support issue escalationDemonstrate ability to bring stakeholders together to resolve issues quickly and effectively.Work with all levels of the organization, including facilitating Executive Chief Engineer (ECE) reviews and VP of Design reviews as neededDevelop and maintain strategic relationships between Vehicle Program Management, Advanced Vehicle Development, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Design functionsUtilize Momentum timing tools and author change requests in the Program Change Management (PCM) SystemMaintain the Design Fabrication Bill of PropertiesFollow and support property builds at Design Fabrication for assigned programsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor’s Degree qualifications in design, business, engineering, or equivalent work experience5+ years of relevant experienceExperience supporting design or engineering functions is preferredStrong facilitation skills with ability to adapt style to suit different audiences and situationsAbility to be predictive and proactive in a high-tempo work environment that is dependent on collaboration, decisiveness, and innovative thinkingExcellent influencing and negotiation skillsHigh level of project management skillsDetail oriented problem-solverSelf-motivated and ability to work with minimal directionStrong team building and interpersonal skillsWhat Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) 7+ years of relevant experienceComprehensive understanding of Global Vehicle Product DevelopmentFamiliarity with AI tools for automation and documentationExcellence in storytelling and facilitation, as demonstrated by driving timely decisions with stakeholder groups to move programs forward.Change management skills, from experiences anticipating and managing the impact of design and content changes5+ years of experience building strong relationships with cross-functional partners and Design leaders at various levels of the organization.
