Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionC23 MachinistRole Overview:Set up and operate standard machine tools and specialized equipment to make, modify and rework parts and assemblies as directed. Will use all types of measuring and hand tools and perform related duties. Will work from planning or written instructions, written procedures, blueprints, and repair manuals. Will receive work assignments throughout the machine shop and will operate various machine tools. Will perform repetitive and/or single piece lot work. Must be able to assist and be directed by higher rated machinist and/or toolmaker in the manufacture of a variety of machine (engine) components and assemblies, and to develop/implement new processes. Machinists own the repair process from start to finish, so they must be willing to bench, inspect, steam/clean, grit blast, etc. to keep hardware moving. Maintain associated paperwork. May be called upon to disposition hardware, maintain/change routers, and instruct others as required and perform related duties. Instruct and train others as required.Required Qualifications:2 years minimum experience within a structured training program (such as an apprentice program) OR 2 years work experience as a skilled machinist (i.e., VTL, VBM, Lathe, Bridgeport, Mills, Drills, Grinders, etc.)High school degree, or GEDPreferred Qualifications:Apprentice graduate OR 10 years or more machinist experienceExperience with C.N.C. or N.C. or Robotic equipmentExperience monitoring multiple machines at the same timeExperience setting up and/or operating various hand and power tools and basic machine tools and equipmentExperience using shop math, including fraction and decimals, with working knowledgein algebra, geometry, and trigonometryDemonstrated skill in the use of precision measuring instruments (CMM equipment, manual instruments) with experience inspecting machined hardwareExperience in reading and interpreting technical documents, drawings, and standardsKnowledge of safety standards and safeguardsExperience in using CMM equipment1+ years aerospace machining experienceAdditional Information: • Ability to pass machinist written and functional test• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion. Items more than 40 pounds will be lifted with assistance.• Role requires ability to operate material handling and lifting devices• Role requires basic use of computers, applications, and keyboarding (e.g. email, Microsoft Excel, etc.)This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
