Job Description SummaryAs a premier NPI, NGP1 is fast paced and setting new standards for Edison Works. The Program Mechanical Design team is a large organization with multiple sub-teams. This role is aligned to a sub-team spanning multiple commodities and design phases, including cost-out design, hardware delivery, test, certification/qualification, and technical publications. This role operates in a highly cross-functional environment, enabling rapid learning and product maturation, and will help lead the charge on FLIGHT DECK adoption within Edison Works, applying lean principles to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost across the NPI lifecycle.Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.Job DescriptionRoles & ResponsibilitiesExecute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned components for advanced military productsAdhere to business standards, practices, procedures, and product requirementsLeverage prior mechanical design experience and broaden knowledge of one's own technical discipline to meet product deliverables within schedule and budget constraintsDemonstrate systems-thinking mentality to understand how work of one's team integrates with others to achieve product requirementsExhibit autonomy to make decisions within a defined requirements framework while resolving design challenges in situations which require technical knowledge and judgmentReview designs and consult with senior technical leaders for evaluation of workThis role requires sound interpersonal skills to develop strong internal and external customer relationships by serving as an interface point within GERequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering from an accredited universityMinimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design or mechanical analysis engineering positionThis role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security ClearanceDesired CharacteristicsMaster’s degree in mechanical engineering or aeronautical engineering from an accredited universityStrong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
