Apply with DoneWithWork — $19.99/moEmployment Type:Full timeShift:12 Hour Night ShiftDescription:Position PurposeAt Saint Francis Hospital, the Cardiac Surgery Step Down provides intermediate-level care to patients recovering from cardiac surgery, including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and other cardiovascular procedures. The RN will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.What You Will DoProvide direct nursing care to post-operative cardiac surgery patients in a step-down settingMonitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and hemodynamic statusManage chest tubes, temporary pacing wires, surgical incisions, and IV medicationsAdminister medications, including cardiac drips, per physician orders and protocolsEducate patients and families on recovery, medications, and lifestyle modificationsCollaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teamsRecognize and respond promptly to changes in patient conditionMaintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiativesMinimum QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program.Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Connecticut.Certification: BLS (AHA/ARC) required.Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience (cardiac or critical care preferred)Preferred SkillsEducation: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.Experience: cardiac step-down, ICU, or telemetry unitCertification: ACLS and Stroke Certification preferred.Position HighlightsFull-time – 36 hours –NightsRotating Every other Weekend/HolidayThis is an hourly position, included in the RN Step Program pay range: $36.15 to $59.95.Ministry/Facility InformationSaint Francis Hospital has been an anchor institution in Connecticut since 1897.
