To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position, please review this tip sheet.The Risk Management Analyst 3 (H) serves as a subject matter expert and project lead for risk management initiatives. This role supervises a team of risk analysts, evaluates organizational vulnerabilities, and advises management on strategic risk mitigation and compliance.CORE JOB FUNCTIONSMentors risk analysts and oversees team projects and workflow.Performs statistical analysis to quantify risk and forecast outcomes.Prepares and presents findings to senior management, recommending solutions to minimize risks.Monitors internal and external risk factors, including regulatory changes.Supports managers in risk management model construction.Implements and maintains risk management information systems.Leads development and administration of risk management programs and policies.Coordinates hospital-wide programs for quality patient care and risk-free services.Liaises with attorneys, insurance companies, and individuals for claims and litigation management.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific FunctionsIndependently manages assigned event and incident reports, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and appropriate follow-up actions.Conducts medical record review and analysis for patient safety events across general acute care and select specialty care settings.Participates actively in investigations, including interviews, documentation review, and contribution to root cause and risk analyses.Analyzes and trends event data to identify patterns, contributing factors, and opportunities for risk prevention and patient protection.Collaborates closely with clinical leadership, Quality, Patient Safety, Patient Experience, and operational teams to support corrective action planning.Assists with regulatory readiness activities and supports accreditation and performance improvement initiatives as assigned.Contributes to the development and delivery of internal education related to patient safety, risk prevention, and reporting expectations.Performs additional duties as assigned in support of departmental operations.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.CORE QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in relevant field requiredProfessional certification in healthcare risk management or patient safety (e.g., CPHRM, CPPS) encouraged.Minimum 5 years of relevant experience requiredKnowledge, Skills and Attitudes:Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.Working knowledge of incident and event reporting systems, including RL6 (RLDatix), with the ability to independently review, analyze, and trend reported events.Working knowledge of Epic or comparable EHR systems for independent medical record review and analysis.Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.#Li-TF1The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.UHealth-University of Miami Health System, South Florida's only university-based health system, provides leading-edge patient care powered by the ground breaking research and medical education at the Miller School of Medicine.
