SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.JOB SUMMARYThe Residence Hall Coordinator (RHC) provides support and direction for student learning and academic success while managing the overall administrative, supervisory, and community experiences for undergrad and/or graduate students in facilities of various levels of occupancy. This position requires the ability to have direct interactions with professional staff, faculty, and students, including student leaders and student staff. This position administers assignments processes under the direction of the Assistant Director for Assignments & Marketing and supervises front desk operations for housing where applicable. The SLU Department of Housing Operations is committed to the total development of the student within an inclusive community through a residential experience actualized in community experiences, intentional conversations, reflection, restorative practices, group dialogues and is built on a student learning philosophy that values social justice, community, spiritual and personal growth, and academic success.The RHC must be committed to working within an innovative environment that is focused on the support and education of students in university housing. The successful staff member must have a passion for working with a diverse student population, be committed to student learning and development, possess strong critical thinking and problem- solving skills, demonstrate initiative, communicate effectively, have a positive attitude, and an ability to manage structured autonomy.Staff positions in Housing Operations and Residence Life are not traditional office hour positions. Schedules are influenced by student and community needs. There will be times throughout the year when the SHRC is expected to work evenings and weekends. Availability during this time will be determined in conjunction with the supervisor.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESGraduate Housing (Housing Operations, Assignments and Data Management)Oversees the administration and communication of room assignment processes for graduate student housing and assist with other assignment-related operationsFacilitates room changes and serves as a member of the contract release review committeeCommunicates directly with students and families to assist with navigation of housing concerns, including but not limited to mediation of conflict, housing accommodations, and requests for reassignmentCoordinates Area opening, closing, and summer transition for assigned facilitiesManages assigned budget accountsCommunicates and coordinates facility related concerns with Facilities personnelUndergraduate Housing (Housing and Residential Curriculum)Academic Support & Learning CommunitiesParticipates in meetings to discuss opportunities, issues, and strategies to promote student learningWorks with faculty, staff, and student stakeholders to develop integrated experiences for Learning CommunitiesCoordinates academic achievement recognition/incentive programsStudent LeadershipSupports the student staff leadership development curriculumAdvises Community Council executive board for area with opportunities to serve as an adviser for Residence Hall Association and National Residence Hall HonoraryParticipates in the facilitation of student leadership training for student staff and student leadersPromotes student leadership opportunities within the residence halls and apartmentsResidential CurriculumCreates and implement learning outcome focused lesson plans for building and/or areaPromotes community development at the floor and community levelEnhances student learning and development through intentional individualized community experienceEstablishes goals and priorities for building inclusive communitiesSupervises, selects, and develops staff employeesSupervises a variety of student staff, which includes Resident Advisors, Lead Resident Advisor, Operations Manager, Desk Workers, and a Graduate Hall CoordinatorEvaluates staff development, based on formal and informal needs assessment, learning outcomes and targeted goalsFacilitates meetings with student staff to discuss progress on goals, community experiences, community development, and learning outcomesDevelops, executes, and evaluates recruitment, training, and development for all student staff Saint Louis University Department of Housing and Residence Life Residence Hall Coordinator positionsFosters ideals of cura personalis by encouraging individual, personal and professional developmentGraduate & UndergraduateCrisis Intervention/ResponseServes on-call as a first responder and a point of contact for campus emergenciesWorks with campus partners including but not limited to Dean of Students, Vice Provost for Graduate Education, Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Student Health and Counseling Center, Office of Student Responsibility and Community Standards, Campus Ministry, and Title IX Office in response to issues/incidents in the areasAssists with incident debrief meetings and the Behavioral Concern Committee through providing information and updates on students of concern.Tracks and assesses intervention efforts for reporting purposesCollaborationCollaborates with Student Involvement, International Student Services, Graduate Education and Campus Ministry to support student growth and developmentCollaborates with Assistant Director for Undergraduate and Graduate Student Programming to host/market/promote programming opportunities for studentsSupports division strategic priorities and University-wide common core learning outcomesAssists campus partners with student recruitment initiativesCommunity Standards and Student ConductServes as a hearing o
