Responsible for receipting payments including tuition & fees, applications, parking, bookstore, etc. The position provides explanation and clarification of student account information. Further, the position provides guidance to the campus community concerning college payment due dates and campus payment policies. Oversees daily work performed by student employees at the payment window. This position has full responsibility for processing the student payroll. Duties include entering, preparing, and receiving timesheets, running the payroll, and dealing with any other student payroll-related issues. This position works directly with student supervisors to clarify payroll appointments or time sheet discrepancies. Position dimensions include a student payroll approximating 200 students and a student account receivable approximating $700,000.Salary Range: $22.23 - $30.09 hourly | $47,231 - $63,935 annuallyMinimum QualificationsBasic Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, divide, count, total, and make change and monitor accounts accurately.Comprehensive computer software skills, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and other business software applications sufficient to collect, query and analyze data and prepare charts and reports.Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), terminology, and procedures sufficient to independently review and process financial transactions. Ability to recognize and locate errors and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.Ability to follow directions accurately and set up basic electronic spreadsheets, to include formatting cells, problem solving and accurately setting up formulas to calculate spreadsheet. Customer services skills sufficient to actively listen to and understand needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives in a timely, thorough, courteous, respectful, and professional manner in person, over the phone and in writing.Preferred Qualification Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.Associate’s degree in business or accountingMinimum one-year experience in an accounting related positionAbility to create, maintain and organize documentation to support system operation, services, procedures and programs.MinnState and LSC policies and proceduresExperience with the MinnState (ISRS) and State (SWIFT) accounting systems.Work Shift Hours 8:00am to 4:30 pmDays: Monday – FridayAboutLake Superior College is an Equal Opportunity employer and educator deeply committed to fostering the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
