Provide strategic direction to and manage a senior leadership team including the Chief Executive Dir. of Development & ACC, Penn Medicine, Sr. Executive Dir. of Dev, UPHS, Penn Medicine, and Chief Executive Director for PSOM Development and Alumni Relations spanning individual and organizational giving across UPHS, including the Abramson Cancer Center; PSOM, including Biomedical Research Development and Alumni Development and Alumni Relations; corporate and foundation relations; and planned giving. Oversees the operations team of PMDAR and the coordination of network hospitals, including Doylestown Health, Lancaster General Hospital, Princeton Health System, and Chester County Hospital. Works closely with CAO in the areas of long-range and strategic planning, volunteer engagement, and principal giving efforts with the institution's top-tier donors and donor prospects.Job DescriptionJob ResponsibilitiesProvides strategic direction for the Penn Medicine Development & Alumni Relations (PMDAR) department—which includes establishing priorities, procedures, policies, strategies, and tactics to support the overall goals of the department. Work directly to support CAO on key initiatives and development efforts activities, naming opportunities and related materials and strategies for program and capital projects. Oversees department's core advancement programs and operational structure in conjunction with the CAO and establishes annual performance metrics for units and their staff members. Oversees senior managers and their respective teams--particularly in tracking progress toward meeting major annual objectives. Contribute to the planning and recruitment, retention, management, and professional development of PMDAR staff.  In partnership with CAO position, oversees coordination of all activity with network hospitals, including Chester County Hospital, Lancaster General Hospital, and Princeton Health. Provides senior-level support to the offices and key staff of the Dean & EVP and Chief Executive Officer to ensure they are properly staffed in Development and Alumni Relations activities. Coordinate University-wide development efforts, assuring collaboration between Penn Medicine and the University’s central Development and Alumni Relations particularly with prospect management coordination and collaborative fundraising opportunities. Develops and maintains a sophisticated understanding of Penn Medicine's research, patient care, and educational portfolios. Collaborates with institutional leadership, faculty, and central Development colleagues to translate Penn Medicine strategic initiatives and priorities into persuasive and compelling gift/grant opportunities for top-tier donors and donor prospects. Personally manages and staffs a portfolio of key principal giving (i.e., rated $5M and above) donors and donor prospects and related faculty.  Maintains regular contact with these constituents while engaging institutional leadership in appropriate outreach efforts.
