The role collaborates closely with clinical, operational, technical, and vendor partners to ensure reliable data exchange and workflow optimization.PurposeThe Epic Interface Engineer II is responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of interfaces between Epic Systems and other healthcare applications utilizing Epic Bridges and HL7 technologies. This role supports data integration, workflow optimization, system interoperability, and operational continuity across the healthcare environment.ResponsibilitiesInterface Development and MaintenanceDesign and develop HL7 real-time interfaces between Epic and other healthcare systemsBuild, configure, test, and maintain Epic Bridges interfacesTest and validate interface functionality to ensure reliable data exchangeTroubleshoot and resolve interface-related issuesMonitor interface performance and recommend improvementsBusiness Requirements AnalysisGather and document business requirementsTranslate business requirements into technical specificationsCollaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and identify integration needsSupport solution design activities that align technical capabilities with operational requirementsSystem Upgrades and ValidationAssist with software upgrades, patches, and system enhancementsConduct end-to-end testing of interfaces and integration pointsDevelop and execute test plansValidate interface functionality following upgrades and system changesUser Support and TrainingProvide technical support to end users and operational teamsConduct training sessions related to interface functionality and usageDevelop user manuals, technical documentation, and support materialsAssist stakeholders with issue resolution and system adoption effortsProject ManagementManage interface-related projects and assigned deliverablesCoordinate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholdersTrack project progress and communicate status updatesSupport project planning, implementation, and execution activitiesMarginal or Periodic FunctionsAssist with software upgrades and patchesTest new functionality and featuresLiaise with vendors regarding interface-related issuesCoordinate vendor support and maintenance activitiesAnalyze data flow and integration pointsRecommend improvements to integration and data processesPerform related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesTechnical LearningQuickly learns new technical skills, systems, and technologiesAdapts to software updates and changing technical environmentsTroubleshoots complex technical issues effectivelyImplements new technologies and processes efficientlyProblem SolvingIdentifies and resolves problems in a timely mannerDiagnoses interface issues accuratelyDevelops effective technical solutionsCollaborates with teams to resolve integration challengesCustomer FocusUnderstands and meets the needs of customers and stakeholdersProvides excellent user support and serviceTailors solutions to user and operational requirementsMaintains positive relationships with stakeholdersProject ManagementManages projects and assigned deliverables effectivelyPlans and organizes project tasksMonitors project timelines and milestonesCommunicates project status clearly and effectivelyCollaborationWorks effectively across technical, clinical, and operational teamsEngages with cross-functional stakeholdersShares knowledge and resourcesSupports team members and organizational goalsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldFour years of experience developing interfacesTwo years of experience developing interfaces within an Epic environmentTwo years of experience supporting Epic BridgesExperience with HL7 interface development and healthcare system integrationsExperience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutionsStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with technical, operational, and clinical stakeholdersRelevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsSix years of experience in interface development and healthcare ITITIL Foundation certificationProject Management Professional (PMP) certificationExperience supporting healthcare interoperability initiativesExperience working with healthcare integration and data exchange standardsLicenses/Registrations/CertificationsRequiredEpic Certification in Interface DevelopmentPreferredProject Management Professional (PMP) CertificationSalary Range$90,000+ depending on qualificationsWorking ConditionsStandard office environment and equipmentRepetitive use of a keyboard and computerProlonged periods of sitting and computer useMay require participation in testing, upgrades, and project implementation activities outside of standard business hours as neededRequired MaterialsResume/CV3 work references with their contact information; at least one reference should be from a supervisorLetter of interestImportant for applicants who are NOT current university employees or contingent workers: You will be prompted to submit your resume the first time you apply, then you will be provided an option to upload a new Resume for subsequent applications.
