The projected end date for this assignment is May 31, 2027. This assignment will be benefits eligible. The selected candidate must have a valid/current Texas drive's license with a clean driving record.Purpose This position is needed to support the ongoing growth of the Utilities and Energy Management department. UEM will be involved in multiple upgrades and construction projects in the future.ResponsibilitiesAssists in performing journey-level installation, retrofit, and modification of campus utility meters, transmitters, automation valves, auxiliary control systems, and other monitoring equipment for electric power and chill water metering, distribution, and generation systems in a power and chill water production environment. Maintains compliance with ISA best installation practices. Follows all University and UEM safety policies and procedures, takes required safety training, and identifies and reports safety hazards. Complies with standards of workmanship and safety in the workplace. Performs work tasks in a safe manner, wears appropriate personal protective equipment, and reports near misses and incidents.Identifies, reports, and corrects safety hazards. Works around hazardous materials, high temperatures, and loud environments. Performs elevated work on scaffolding, platforms, and personnel lifts. Works in confined spaces, including tunnels and man-holes. Operates bridge-cranes, hoists, forklifts, and other equipment as required. Performs all instrumentation work, adhering to ISA standards for safety in the workplace.Required QualificationsHigh school graduation or GED. At least 2 years of related apprentice-level experience in the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems equipment for mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment.Preferred QualificationsAt least 4 years of related apprentice-level experience in the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems equipment for mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment. Graduation from an accredited college in Industrial Instrumentation or related studies. ISA level 1 certification.Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).Hourly Rate$25.00Working ConditionsAttire: JeansUniforms provided, Safety shoes provided.Work ShiftHours per week - 40Work hours 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.Work schedule is a 9-80. Monday through Thursday, work hours are 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM. On Friday, work is from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
