This role works across manufacturing engineering and plant environments to develop, test, and implement advanced robotic process technologies.What You’ll DoSupport robotics execution teams across manufacturing centers, shops, and plantsProvide on-site and remote support for equipment startup, troubleshooting, diagnostics, reprogramming, and skilled trades interfaceRespond to systemic issues affecting current productionPartner with global standards and research teams to improve robotics standards and support new technology developmentLead development and validation of new robotics and vision applicationsSupport advanced robotic technologies including cutting, joining, handling, laser, and visionSupport safety system solutions, including DCSDrive common execution across programs through standards rollout, technical forums, lessons learned, and user group leadershipCreate and maintain robotics execution processes and proceduresEvaluate robotic NPP projects and support repair and replace strategiesPerform layered audits at key project milestones to ensure compliance with standards and notify leadership of non-compliant solutionsMentor students and new hires and support supplier technical developmentProvide after-hours downtime support as neededTravel and weekend work may be required, including on short noticeRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or related fieldStrong technical knowledge of robotics, automation processing, and application technologies such as vision, dispense, and weldingExtensive experience with Fanuc robotsKnowledge of robotic and automation safety standardsExperience developing and integrating robotic applicationsProgramming knowledge in Fanuc TP, KAREL, C++, and PythonStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple complex assignments with a high level of autonomy and accountabilityAbility to provide technical direction, mentoring, and project leadershipSelf-motivated with the ability to multitask and drive continuous improvementProven success leading manufacturing robotics assignmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience with additional robot manufacturers2–3 years of plant assignment experience10+ years of relevant experienceKnowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learningExperience with ROS/ROS2Experience with manufacturing and industrial automation including material-handling systems, AMRs, cobots, and virtual commissioningFamiliarity with NVIDIA Isaac, Omniverse, or similar 3D/manufacturing simulation environmentsFamiliarity with Teamcenter, Siemens Technomatix Process Simulate, or similar toolsUnderstanding of plant floor operations and product design manufacturabilityGlobal project experience across regionsOngoing development of technical expertiseRecognition for outstanding contributionsWhy Join GMThis is an opportunity to help shape the future of manufacturing automation at General Motors by advancing robotics standards, supporting plant execution, and developing next-generation automation solutions.
