This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum. The RoleBody PI engineer is the primary liaison between ME Body and Product Engineering, ensuring that the product design is driven by manufacturing needs by following Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and Best Practices (BPs.) This role focuses on achieving global inter-buildability, maintaining top-tier static quality, and aligning with GM's "Lean" manufacturing principles and systems. PI engineers oversee programs throughout the entire GVDP lifecycle, actively seeking solutions to complex problems and aiming for cost reductions.Be part of an organization that does work throughout the entire GVDP lifecycleCross-functionally solving simple, complex, and very challenging problemsWork with all the disciplines within ME Body such as Dies, ME Architects, Virtual Engineering, Dimensional, Paint, and Body ExecutionGain valuable experience in both Manufacturing and Product Engineering simultaneouslyHave the opportunity to work on global programs with our ME & PE counterparts in Shanghai, China and Seoul, South KoreaWhat You'll DoCollaborate with Product Engineering to ensure Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and Best Practices (BPs) are incorporated into product program design releases.Assure product designs support Common Datum Locating Strategy (CDLS)/Hole to Hole/Body Shop (ABC Metrics) dimensional strategiesAssure product designs support global interbuildability strategies.Develop and execute Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to support product program execution.Manage Manufacturing Concept Sheets and Study Requests and maintain logs.Manage Engineering Change Management (ECM) engineering changes that impact Body-In-White (BIW).Develop and maintain Product Engineering Drive Cost Increase Tracking Log.Develop, submit and track material order for tooling integration and buy-off.Develop, submit and track material orders for Manufacturing Validation EventsSupport purchased part sourcing processAssure the integrated resolution of product/process issues in support of the Issue Resolution Team (IRT) in a support role for plant buildsSupports the Vehicle Dimensional Quality Manager (VDQM) and Dimensional Team to drive nominal body and in the development of the Critical Interface plan and execution.Develop Appendix B1 for Statements of Requirements (SORs)Participate in Tech ReviewsResolve subassembly strategy issuesRequired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering field or equivalent experienceAt least 4 years of experience working in a manufacturing environmentHigh level of oral and written communication skillsHigh level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plant personnel, and suppliersHigh level of analytical abilities to solve complex problemsFacilitator /leadership skillsProficient in Microsoft softwareAbility to travel locally as neededPreferred Qualifications:Experience in Body-In-White (BIW) tool design and buildProficiency in TeamCenter/VisMockupFamiliar with math based processesFamiliar with General Motors North America (GMNA) standardsKnowledge of Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP) and related deliverables#LI-SB2 GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
