Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionAt the Lafayette Engine Facility, our technicians are more than jet engine mechanics. We're a teaming site made up of multiple teams that operate as interconnected business units driving their team’s safety, quality, and delivery goals. This structure offers our team members a high degree of flexibility and professional development. In this role you will be based at one of GE Aviation’s newest, state of the art facilities in Lafayette, Indiana where we support new jet engine assembly for the LEAP and Passport engines as well as overhaul for the LEAP engine. As a Lafayette Technician, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop in unlimited ways.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDrive team safety and quality investigations and corrective actionsParticipate in a flexible workforceWork on a team & take an active role in sitewide decision-makingAssemble, repair, and overhaul jet enginesCross-train and learn multiple job scopesUtilize planning software and various computer programs on a daily basisMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma / GEDFAA Powerplant certificate OR current program enrollment to obtain Powerplant certification OR equivalent military experience performing aircraft maintenance AND eligibility to pursue Powerplant certification (A&P Certification is accepted)Proof of FAA Powerplant certification required to startDesired CharacteristicsPrioritizes safety and qualityExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work in a self-directed team environmentSelf-motivated and able to take initiativeOpenness to give and receive feedback across different levels of employeesAbility to teach and coach othersAbility to make, and accept responsibility for, decisionsWillingness to work in multiple roles with varied responsibilitiesCritical thinking capability, maturity of judgementAdditional InformationFlexible shift assignment (1st or 2nd) based on team and business needIndustry competitive pay, benefits, and paid time offRelocation bonus provided (distance requirement to be met) Interview travel costs coveredProgression schedule based on service eligibility requirements and self-driven project and training completionEligible for pay increase with progression schedule within 12 monthsRobust assessment and evaluation processThis role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations, working with chemicals, and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek.
